OnePlus 7 Pro Beats Pixel 3 Series to Get August 2019 Security Patches With OxygenOS 9.5.11 Update

Highlights

  • OxygenOS 9.5.11 update for OnePlus 7 Pro is rolling out in batches

  • The update also brings optimisations to touch screen sensitivity and adaptive brightness

OxygenOS 9.5.11 update is now rolling out to the OnePlus 7 Pro and it brings August 2019 security patches to the smartphone. This essentially means that the OnePlus 7 Pro becomes the first phone in the industry to get August 2019 patches, beating Google’s own Pixel lineup of phones. Besides the August security patches, the OxygenOS 9.5.11 update also brings optimisations to the adaptive brightness, sensitiveness of the screen touch while gaming and accidental touches with notification bar in calling. OnePlus also fixed the general bugs and improved the overall performance of the smartphone. The update started hitting the OnePlus 7 Pro from July 31, 2019, but it’s being rolled out in a phased manner, so it may reach your smartphone in the coming days.

OxygenOS 9.5.11 for OnePlus 7 Pro: What’s New?

OnePlus is not known for pushing timely security patch updates to its smartphones, but this time, it’s different with the OnePlus 7 Pro. The company is keeping the smartphone up to date with the latest security patches and with the OxygenOS 9.5.11, the OnePlus 7 Pro became the first phone in the industry to get August 2019 security patches. We’re just one day into the eighth month of 2019 and Google is yet to officially announce security patch updates to its Pixel smartphones. However, OnePlus has already pushed them to the OnePlus 7 Pro. Usually, Google Pixel phones are the first to receive monthly security patches directly from Google.

Some OnePlus users complained about the adaptive brightness being harsh at times on the OnePlus 7 Pro and the company has resolved the issue with OxygenOS 9.5.11 update. Besides, the OnePlus 7 Pro owners will also get to see optimisations made to the sensitivity of touch screen while gaming and accidental touches with notification bar in the calling screen. I personally faced the accidental touches issue in the calling screen; Thankfully, OnePlus has resolved the issue with the latest update.

Other than that, there are the usual bug fixes and system stability improvements which the company does with every update. The OxygenOS 9.5.11 update does not bring any improvements to the cameras on the OnePlus 7 Pro, unlimited the older updates which brought several new tweaks to the cameras.

OxygenOS 9.5.11 Rolling Out in a Phased Manner to OnePlus 7 Pro

Similar to the case with every other update OnePlus rolls out, the OxygenOS 9.5.11 is also rolling out in batches. This essentially means that the update will reach only a small percentage of OnePlus 7 Pro owners today in order to check if there are any major bugs. Once OnePlus confirms that the update does not have any major bugs, it will start the broader rollout of OxygenOS 9.5.11 update, but again, the broader rollout will begin after at least ten days from now.

The same case applies to every OnePlus smartphone. OnePlus announced OxygenOS 9.5.7 update to the OnePlus 7 on July 17, but the update reached my unit on July 31, which is nearly two weeks after the rollout.

OnePlus is also looking for user feedback, which can be given from the Feedback tool inside the OnePlus Community app on the OnePlus 7 Pro. OnePlus is a company which works based on the feedback from the users, so if you think there are any areas for improvements, make sure to send the feedback to the company.
